PEF E-Lightwaves May 2024
INTRODUCING THE 2024 PEF SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS
Congratulations to our 2024 PEF Senior Scholarship recipients: Katara Chang (Peninsula High School) and Daisy Warner (Palos Verdes High). Each student has been awarded $1,500 to further their post-secondary education. Selected from a pool of remarkable applicants, these outstanding individuals exemplify excellence and promise for the future.
For the past four years, Katara Chang has been a driving force on the basketball court at Peninsula High, currently serving as the varsity team’s captain. Alongside her basketball achievements, she has showcased her athletic versatility as a member of the varsity lacrosse team and even ventured into flag football this year. Beyond sports, Katara lends her voice to the school choir and is also vice president of the Mock Trial team, demonstrating her commitment to both athletics and academics. Katara will be attending the University of California, Berkeley where she will major in applied physics.
Daisy Warner’s journey at PV High School has been marked by her active involvement in Live from 205 for the past 4 years, where she is currently a producer. In addition to her commitment to the varsity swim team, she has also engaged in dual enrollment classes at Harbor College. Daisy’s impact extends beyond her school’s walls as she has also served as a guest speaker at neighboring schools, advocating for mental health awareness and the significance of seeking support when needed. Looking ahead, Daisy is set to embark on her academic journey at SMU in the fall, where she intends to pursue a major in psychology.
