PEF SUMMER VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

Following a record-breaking 2025 season with over 100 dedicated volunteers, the PEF Summer Volunteer Program is back! Our high schoolers are the heart of our elementary summer school program. From classroom mentorship to leading spirited theme days, our volunteers build leadership skills while making summer unforgettable for local kids.

What You Will Do:

Volunteers will assist in classrooms, supervise recess, and provide lunch support as part of our Elementary Summer School Program. Flexible morning and afternoon shifts are available, with a minimum one-week commitment required.

Program Highlights:

• Orientation & Ice Cream Social: Kick off the summer with our mandatory orientation and volunteer ice cream social! Meet other volunteers and get the “inside scoop” on your role.
• Meaningful Impact: Become a hero to our elementary students! Whether you’re assisting in the classroom or leading spirited activities, you’ll play a vital role in making summer school magic happen.
• Networking & Professional Growth: Connect with PVPUSD teachers and educational professionals in a real-world setting. This is a unique opportunity to build community ties and showcase your work ethic to potential professional references for your future college or career goals.
• Service Hours Certification: Every volunteer will receive an official certificate verifying their hours, which is perfect for school requirements, resumes, and college applications.
• Congressional Commendation: PEF is proud to facilitate the process for volunteers to receive the Congressional Commendation from Congressman Ted Lieu. We provide the official tracking and verification required to recognize your outstanding service to our community.

We are seeking responsible, enthusiastic, and caring high school students who enjoy working with children and are ready to lead. Whether you’re looking to build your leadership skills, expand your professional network, or make a lasting impact on local elementary students, we want you on our team!

Click below to fill out your application. Application review and interviews begin on February 23, 2026. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis.

Program Fee & Materials:

To support the growth of our program and cover essential materials, including your volunteer t-shirts, the Summer Kickoff Ice Cream Social, and the processing of service hour certifications and Congressional Commendations, there is a $50 Program Fee due at the time of application.

Our Refund Guarantee:

• Returning Volunteers: Your spot is secured upon application!
• New Applicants:  If you are not selected for a position in the 2026 program, your $50 will be fully refunded to your original payment method.

Commitment Requirement:

At least one week is required (either morning or afternoon shift), with the option to sign up for additional weeks if available. A volunteer hours tracking log can be found HERE.
